Anchor Bar
Well, it is a dive bar, I’ll say that much. Not exceptional, but Anchor Bar is more than serviceable.
Should you find yourself nearing the wilds of Vancouver and in need of a good stiff drink or a quick bite to eat, you can comfortably do so at Anchor Bar amongst the locals of Hayden Island. They must be a social lot, those islanders. All of the tables in the place are enormous and seat like 12.
Don’t go here if you are an introvert in need of a quiet drink in a quiet corner. Because it is not very quiet either. For the first 30 minutes we were there I kept scowling and searching for the idiot who had his phone sound turned up (after I ruled out myself) until I realized the sounds I was hearing were coming from the constantly dinging video poker machines. Made me a bit nostalgic for Vegas.
The food at Anchor Bar was solid, the wine pours were brimming, and the service was kind.
