Misdemeanor Meadows

Misdemeanor Meadows has been on our hit list for quite some time and we were so excited to finally visit! We ambled in on a Saturday afternoon around 5 only to be greeted by the sound of crickets and tumbleweeds blowing through: we were the only people there, save the kind bartendress, Heather who we assume was paid to be there.

We must have looked trustworthy, because once we had our drinks in hand, Heather left us to our own devices while she updated the outdoor sign. As the minutes ticked by, thoughts of potential naughtiness went through our heads… we could start pouring our own drinks or mess around in the unattended kitchen… in the end, despite the name of this place, we behaved. (Except there may have been covert placement of some killer PortlandDiveBars.com stickers, see if you can find ‘em).

In any case, we were not bored in the least. There is so much fun stuff to look at inside this tiny gem of a place: sparkly green barstools; a few retro arcade games; creepy diorama art on the walls; tables and bar tops covered in comic and horror movie artwork. Eclectic, esoteric and eccentric is the vibe and it’s a good one. This place just oozes cool. 4 taps, all craft.

The menu is small and smaller still when the temperature is over 85 degrees like on the day we visited. We sampled the nachos and house made pozole and guacamole – nothing fancy, but solidly serviceable eats.

The band was setting up on the tiny stage just as we were leaving, but our guess is that Misdemeanor Meadows is a rockin’ good place to hear live music. Pity the poor neighbors whose house oddly adjoins the back parking lot – let’s hope they are music fans or deaf!
