Space Room Lounge
I immediately loved the quirky space age décor in Space Room Lounge. Black walls with apparently hand-painted murals, sexy curved black booths, spaceship shaped light fixtures. Just delightful. Must be the influence of all of the cheesy space movies and tv shows I watched in my youth.
But before you go thinking this sounds too nice to be a dive bar, let me assure you that it also has worn out carpet, split seats fixed with duct tape and a characteristic odor that you can’t find anywhere else except in a dive bar.
It is that unmistakable combination of mustiness, grease, cigarette smoke from decades past and industrial strength cleaners – ahhhh, heaven.
Full bar, 16 taps including 3 crap, 3 ciders AND they serve pitchers. How convivial! The food screams Portland. Pork belly hash was on the specials sheet when we visited, I mean really, in a dive bar?
Rest assured; the expected food standards like burgers & wings are there too. The patio is gorgeous and enormous. Great spot to hang with your crew.
