The Alibi Tiki Lounge
Iconic Portland destination Dive Bar. When you look up “Dive Bar” in the dictionary, a picture of The Alibi Tiki Lounge should appear. It has it all!
So dark you can’t tell if it is night or day once you disappear inside (and there’s a reasonable possibility that one may turn into the other as you while away the hours guzzling Mai Tais). Slightly dingy, kitschy Tiki theme with tons of dusty tchotchkes all around to stimulate the senses. Red vinyl booths with two seating areas plus bar space and a smattering of outside picnic tables screened in by bamboo plants, so at least you don’t feel like you are sitting in the parking lot.
Although who would eschew the fabulous interior space at The Alibi Tiki Lounge to sit outside I’m not sure, but perhaps the lure of nicotine or infrequent glimpses of the sun are just too strong to resist for some.
They have a few beers on tap, but seriously, why would you drink beer here? Tiki cocktails are definitely the way to go and they offer many well-made options. The Vicious Virgin is a stunning shade of blue and tastes like the delicious frozen Otter Pops of my youth.
They have karaoke. And brunch on the weekends! The the tropical French toast thing was phenomenal.
The video poker machines are here too, SMH. Impossible to escape those, I guess.
Big parking lot.
