The Perch Bar & Grill
The Perch Bar & Grill is a neighborhood institution and has been in operation since the 1940s as near as anyone can tell. And our bartender/cook/waitress Lori has been here for 28 years, so she should know the history better than damn near anyone.
Apparently, this dive has worn various guises over the years and at one point was known as The Owl’s Perch, hence all of the owl décor (also, see the note from Arthur below re: “The Perch Tavern”). Deliciously dark, very cozy space with a pool table somehow wedged in the middle of a bunch of low tables. No escaping the video poker machines and lottery inside, but there is a pleasant covered patio out back.
The Perch had plenty of regulars in attendance on a Tuesday afternoon. Spacious parking lot. Tiny kitchen, small menu, mostly fried things. 7 taps, 3 crap and a full bar. Most popular drink here? A shot and a beer. It’s a great afternoon drinking spot.
