Yur’s Bar & Grill
Provided you can get to it, Yur’s Bar and Grill is a solid dive bar. It’s kinda tricky to navigate; you start to question and/or curse your GPS for taking you in endless circles, but then, the clouds part, the sun shines and Yur’s finally appears.
This is part of the reason why we suspect this is a heavily locals bar, as it is easiest to get here from the surrounding neighborhoods, on foot. It doesn’t look open, but the door was unlocked, so we went in early on a Saturday morning. The place was packed! Long row of crazy wide black booths with dissonantly highly priced original art on the walls.
Bigger back room with long tables, photo booth (odd), cigarette machine, pinball and a few video poker machines strewn around. Looks like smoking is encouraged in the alley off to the side, but I didn’t check it out. Mellow 70s soul music playing when we visited set a good, laid back vibe.
Order at the bar, 16 taps, 2 crap and the rest a nice selection of craft beers and one or 2 ciders. Yur’s Bar and Grill has breakfast everyday until 2, which is always a winner in our book! Everything was good, but the sausage gravy was especially noteworthy. Menu features good quality ingredients and appears to favor the “build-your-own” model – burgers, scrambles and such where you pick the toppings you want. Prices are reasonable and during happy hour you can get some steals, like 3 tacos for 3 bucks.
